ATS-Friendly Resume Format Checklist

ATS-friendly formatting is mostly about clarity: readable text, common section names, and simple structure.

Use standard headings

Summary, Experience, Skills, Education, Certifications, and Projects are easier to parse than creative labels.

Avoid fragile layouts

Tables, dense columns, icons, and decorative text can make older systems parse information poorly.

Make contact details obvious

Put your email, phone, city, LinkedIn, or portfolio near the top in normal text.

Use the tools

Run your resume through the checker, then use the keyword matcher and bullet generator for focused edits.
